Janet Rowse

Chief Executive

Janet graduated from Jesus College Oxford with a degree in English and after a couple of years in retail management, joined the NHS as a national management trainee based in Treliske Hospital in Truro. At the end of the training scheme Janet went to work in Gloucestershire, initially in Gloucester Royal Hospital and then onto Gloucestershire Health Authority.

In 1995 Janet moved back to Cornwall as a Deputy Director within the Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Health Authority, where she worked closely with colleagues in the Council to develop services for children and for adults with mental health and learning disabilities. In 2001 she moved to become a Director in Mid Hampshire PCT where she continued her interest in finding models of care that join up health and social care services. She was also instrumental in an innovative partnership between the PCT and the local Acute trust. During this time she successfully completed her Masters in Public Administration at the University of Warwick. Following this she undertook role in Winchester & Eastleigh Healthcare NHS Trust and then subsequently in NHS Buckinghamshire as Director of Commissioning.

Janet joined NHS Bath & North East Somerset in 2008 as Deputy Chief Executive and Joint Director of Commissioning, jointly appointed by the PCT and the Council. In April 2010, she took on the role of acting Chief Executive of the PCT and Director of Adult Social Care Services. Janet was heavily involved in the early preparatory work on the establishment of Sirona becoming its first Chief Executive in June 2011.

Janet lives in Mendip and has family across the South West.
