Nominations are pouring in for Sirona care & health’s Annual Awards for Excellence which this year has new categories to mark the 70th birthday of the NHS.

The not-for-profit social enterprise’s award ceremony is sponsored this year by partners Cordell Health, Node4 and the Sirona Foundation and will be held at the Bristol and Bath Science Park on the anniversary of Sirona’s foundation – October 1.

The ceremony once again includes the “I think they deserve it” award which is open for public nominations with people telling the organisation why they believe individuals or teams deserve to be recognised.

Last year’s it was won by the Combe Lea Community Resource Centre in Midsomer Norton after a family heaped praise on the staff for helping a relative settle in and for the care he receives.

Sirona working with partners Bristol Community Health and Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust also provide children’s services across Bristol and South Gloucestershire and has introduced a new award for those staff which is also open for public nominations.

Simon Knighton, Sirona’s chairman, said: “This new award will be given to someone within children’s services who has demonstrated the benefit of partnership working to improve the outcomes for children, young people and their families.

“We are also celebrating the NHS’ birthday with two new awards – unsung hero which will recognise someone who has dedicated their time and energy to the health service and the second will recognise an individual whose work has had an outstanding or innovative impact on the NHS.

“We are really pleased to have secured sponsorship for the awards this year and are grateful to our sponsors who are helping us say thank you to our staff who we know make a difference to the lives of people across the communities we serve every day of the year.

“Reading the nominations is always an incredibly moving experience and I’m looking forward to judging day later in August.”

The deadline for nominations is 10 August and should include the reasons why you think an individual or team are outstanding in no more than 300 words. Submissions can be via communications@sirona-cic.org.uk or by writing to:
