This service is available for people who are registered with a GP in the South Gloucestershire area. We hold clinics at Cossham, Thornbury & Yate.
Our Out-patient Physiotherapy Service provides advice, treatment and rehabilitation as appropriate for the following conditions:
When you attend the service, you will receive a thorough assessment and agree a treatment plan with the Physiotherapist to help you achieve your goals.
You can access this service via your GP, consultant or another health professional. A letter will be sent to you asking you to contact us for an appointment and in due course you will have an appointment at a time, that is convenient to you.
It is really important that you let us know if you cannot attend your appointment so that we can offer this to another patient. Wasted appointment slots mean that there is a longer wait for other patients.
You may be sent a questionnaire asking for specific information to bring to your appointment.
The first appointment takes about 30-60 minutes on a one-to-one basis. You will be asked the following questions about your problems which include:
After the questions you will have a physical examination appropriate to your needs.
After this we will ask you to set some goals regarding what you would like to achieve from the physiotherapy service e.g. sleep at night, able to walk.
We will then discuss a treatment plan specifically designed for you which may include exercises. It is important that you are happy to try these exercises at home to help.
Bring shorts and a t-shirt if you have them. However you maybe asked to undress to your underwear so that we can assess you fully. If you would like bring a chaperone, please feel free to bring a friend or family member, or let us know beforehand and we will arrange one for you.
Do you know a member of staff within our Physiotherapy Outpatient Service who you think deserves to be recognised for this year’s Sirona Awards for Excellence. Tell us about them. Find out how to nominate here.
