Before you use this service, please check below for injuries we are able to treat. Please note, the service may need to close earlier than the times stated above if it is experiencing significant demand.

 

X-ray Service run by North Bristol NHS Trust

8 May – 1230 – due to the number of people waiting and the waiting time being two Monday to Friday:
Open:  8.00am to 7:30pm

Weekends and bank holidays: 9am to 5.30pm

Individuals will also be able to attend the unit for a GP-referred X-ray on Saturdays or Sundays. Please check NBT’s website for the latest X-ray service information.

Patients with a GP x-ray referral can also attend Cossham Hospital for their x-ray. This is open Monday to Friday 8.15am to 4.30pm.

Walk-in service for minor injuries

Who is this service for?

The Minor Injury Service offers treatment for adults, children and young people for a wide range of minor injuries.

What we can treat

  • sprains and strains
  • cuts and grazes
  • arm, lower leg and foot injuries
  • superficial bites
  • minor burns and scalds
  • minor head injuries
  • broken noses and nosebleeds
  • eye problems such as scratches, foreign bodies in the eyes
  • x-ray service

You will be seen by an Emergency Nurse Practitioner/skilled nurse who will assess, diagnose and treat your injury. (Please note that this service does not provide a doctor on-site). If your condition is more serious, you will be referred to your GP or an A&E department or to another clinic.

We cannot treat minor illnesses such as

  • sore throats
  • ear aches
  • coughs
  • colds
  • abdominal pains
  • dental pain
  • mental health problems
  • other illnesses

We cannot

  • redress wounds
  • review wounds
  • remove stitches
  • see any injury over two weeks old

If you do not meet the criteria please contact your GP, call 111 or consultant a pharmacist as appropriate. Individuals booking in with any of the above conditions will be re-directed.
