Community Dermatology Specialist Nurse Service

Our community dermatology service is provided by a specialist nurse whose aim is to enable you to self-manage your condition effectively via intensive support and education over a short time period both in the clinic and, if appropriate, at home.

Who is this service for?

The service is available to people of 18 years and over with a confirmed diagnosis of either eczema, psoriasis, scabies, actinic keratosis, dry skin or itch.

How does this service work / what's involved in this service?

Our dermatology nurse service can provide specialist support for a variety of skin conditions. The nurse provides a holistic approach to care, and will provide advice and support to help you manage both the physical and psychological symptoms of your skin condition. The nurse will also agree a treatment plan for your skin condition with you.

The Dermatology Specialist Nurse offers treatment for adult patients with:

  • Eczema
  • Psoriasis
  • Scabies
  • Actinic keratosis
  • Dry skin/itch

How do I access this service?

You can be referred by your GP or other health care professional, such as a District Nurse or Consultant Dermatologist within the South Gloucestershire area.

In what areas is this service available?

We currently offer this service in the South Gloucestershire area, with clinics at Yate West Gate Centre, Kingswood Health Centre and Downend Clinic.
