Who is this service for?

The Rapid Emergency Assessment Care Team (REACT) works in the emergency departments at the Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI) and Southmead Hospital supporting people over the age of 18, with the aim of preventing unnecessary admissions to hospital and helping people return home sooner.

What we do

REACT assesses people at the front door of the BRI and Southmead Hospital, predominantly in the emergency department and its related short-stay areas.

The service, which includes nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists, aims to prevent people being admitted into hospital unnecessarily, as well as helping to discharge people whose needs can be met in the community.

After an assessment and close liaison with the emergency department, the REACT team works with a range of community-based teams and services to help ensure people receive care in the best setting for them.

How do I access this service?

To access the REACT Team you will be referred by a member of the Emergency Department Team.
