Our new occupational health provider presented and sponsored the Cordell Health and Welling Award at our annual ceremony held at the Bristol and Bath Science Park last week.

It was won by district nurse Claire Eccles, Team Lead for Leap Valley District Nurses.

The citation said: “In her nomination our winner was described as a “tireless, supportive, compassionate team leader and a highly committed professional”. She works hard to support every individual in her team and her efforts are met with the full support of her team who really value and respect her commitment and would like nothing more than for her to win this award.”

Nikki Cordell, pictured with Kathryn Smith, joined our HR Director Sarah Margetts on stage to present the award to Claire, who is pictured with her trophy.

You can find out more about Cordell Health at www.cordellhealth.co.uk and follow them on Twitter @CordellHealth.

It is a social enterprise specialising in providing early intervention and specialist support to employees, HR and managers on health and wellbeing at work and is based at our main office near Wokingham, and provide clinics and support workplaces in London, Oxford, Reading and Bristol.

The company says: “Occupational health (OH) is a specialist area of medicine concerned with preventing ill health at work, and supporting those with health conditions in work. We provide managers and employees with independent, professional advice about work-related health concerns. At Cordell Health our doctors, nurses and physiotherapists all have specialist qualifications and extensive experience in OH. Our social mission is to support those with disabilities in work; moving the focus from disability to ability – what people can do, and advising on adjustments for what they can’t – we think of this as “levelling the playing field”.

“The lead physician for Sirona is Dr Robin Cordell who is a Consultant in Occupational Medicine with 25 years’ experience in occupational health. He is engaged in improving health at work on a national level as a director of the Council for Work and Health, and other associated pro bono work. He is passionate about delivering excellence in occupational health and leads a clinical team providing up-to-date support and advice.

“We will be supporting staff at Sirona through advice on promoting health and preventing ill health and injury, and seeing people individually who have been referred for occupational health advice. We are pleased to be sponsoring the Sirona 2018 Wellbeing Award.”
