Sirona is a Community Interest Company that provides community health and adult social care services and was established in October 2011. As a not for profit social enterprise, we exist to deliver benefit to the communities we serve; any profits we make are reinvested into services and staff development. We have no shareholders and we do not pay any dividends. We provide a range of community children’s and adults health services and adult social care services across different geographical areas including Bath and North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Bristol, North Somerset, Wiltshire and Somerset.
Sirona’s Company Interest Statement:
The Company’s activities will provide benefit to all members of the population of the areas served through:
- Promoting good health and well-being;
- Providing safe and high quality services to meet the health and care needs of individuals and carers;
- Securing support for people to maximise their independence and potential.
- The Company will also provide training, education and support to other professionals and organisations to enable them to further the objectives of good emotional and physical health and well being.
Sirona is not part of the NHS, but we provide NHS funded services. This means they continue to be free at the point of delivery and we are accountable to NHS bodies for the standards of service we provide. We are inspected regularly by the Care Quality Commission.
Although we are still relatively young as an organisation, our services have a long and successful track record within the NHS and local authorities. Almost 1700 people transferred into Sirona from the NHS and local authority in Bath and North East Somerset when we started.
In October 2013 we were chosen to provide specialist healthcare services for people with learning difficulties in South Gloucestershire. This means that we are able to provide continuity of care for our service users whilst ensuring that the culture and ethos of Sirona is shared across a wider area. So although we are an independent company, our roots are firmly within public service and our ethos and culture is driven by our commitment to working with others to ensure a joined up approach to health and social care with the focus consistently on helping individuals to achieve their goals.
Our headquarters are at St Martin’s Hospital in Bath. However, our staff work across a wide geographical area so we have many offices and bases. Usually, these are shared with other service providers such as GPs; hospital staff; local authority colleagues or specialist providers such as mental health teams. We also share facilities with some voluntary bodies.
Our aim is to be as accessible to local people as we can be; we care for many people in their own home but where this is not possible we will try and ensure that the services people need are close by.
In Sirona we ask all staff to Take it Personally, recognising that everyone should be treated fairly, with decency, dignity and respect. We embed this across the whole organisation and our benchmark is if it is not good enough for someone we love then it is not good enough.
