Volunteering With Sirona

Sirona is immensely grateful to our volunteers who give their time to enhance the quality of care given to service users. Volunteers provide valuable skills, experience, values and personal qualities.

Sirona recognises that volunteering plays an essential role in the social fabric of the local community, and is an important part of Sirona’s role in supporting social investment and community cohesion. The involvement of volunteers at Sirona aims to complement and add value to the work of paid staff, and to enhance the experience of service users.

Volunteering can also offer opportunities for individuals to; improve health and wellbeing, acquire skills and knowledge that can enhance career development or employment prospects; and engage in meaningful participation in the community. Sirona is committed to ensuring effective structures are in place to support and develop volunteers in their roles.

Volunteers can expect the following from Sirona in exchange for their valuable time:

• Support in achieving your goals
• Clearly defined tasks, roles and responsibilities
• Assurance you won’t be asked to do anything or go anywhere that makes you feel uncomfortable.
• Support, supervision and relevant training
• The chance to be part of a strong and effective team
• Reimbursement of agreed out-of-pocket expenses
• Cover under Sirona’s employers and public liability insurance whilst working as a volunteer
• To be part of Sirona’s volunteer program

All volunteers are recruited through equal opportunities selection criteria including; the take up of two written references; an occupational health check; undertaking a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check or completing a character enquiry form (dependent on the tasks you are to undertake).

All volunteers are required to attend a one day core induction before their volunteering begins.
