Who is this service for?

We work to support adults with bladder and bowel problems. Anyone who is registered with a GP in North Somerset can access this service.

We also support adults who reside within care homes around North Somerset. We work closely with these care homes to support their residents, and maintain staff training around continence care – referral information for care home professionals can be found below.

What we do

Our team of specialist nurses are trained and experienced in assessing and treating bladder and bowel problems. The service works to promote healthy bladder and bowel function. Where we are unable to improve bladder or bowel issues, we will support you in managing the symptoms in a way that’s best for you.

We promote dignity, independence and quality of life. We work very closely with the community nursing teams, GPs and other professionals providing expertise, training and support.

How incontinence is treated

  • Lifestyle and dietary changes
  • Pelvic floor exercises
  • Bladder re-training
  • Exercise programmes to strengthen the muscles that control the bowel
  • Medication
  • Appliances/equipment

We host clinics around different venues around North Somerset, often sharing space within a GP surgery.
