Bladder and Bowel
Issues with continence can affect adults of all ages. Up to six million people in the UK experience urinary incontinence, with 10% of adults thought to experience bowel incontinence.
A lot can be done to cure, treat or manage bladder and bowel problems. Our Bladder and Bowel services support adults who have problems with incontinence or urgency (bladder or bowels), constipation or difficulty passing urine. Our specialist nurses are trained in assessing bladder and bowel problems. Following a full assessment they will recommend appropriate treatment. Many problems with continence are treatable; but if the problem can’t be cured, we’ll suggest ways to make it more manageable.
We also work closely with other healthcare staff who care for people with bladder and bowel problems, and provide expertise, training and support.
