Telephone CBT

This option is normally offered if you are suffering from a specific anxiety (such as panic, health anxiety or phobias) or have depression. It allows targeted treatment of a specific problem over an average of 4 to 5 sessions. Sessions are normally 20 to 30 minutes in duration and are usually held on a weekly basis.

Providing access to therapy over the phone is a relatively new way of delivering therapy. It has several benefits:

  • Saves you time as you don’t need to travel to appointments
  • No need to arrange child care during appointments
  • Easier to fit into your day (e.g. can fit it into your lunch break)

How it works

The therapist will support you in using proven, reliable information and techniques specific to your needs. They will provide you with relevant CBT workbooks and recommend specific sections for you to practice. They will then call you for pre-arranged appointments when they will review your understanding and practice with you and assist you in applying the techniques to your life.
